Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on September 8, 2010, at 7:00 PM with Chairman Fred Ford presiding. Vice Chairman Bob Artman, Mark Reed, and Steve Sipe were present from the start; Randy Paul arrived shortly after the SALDO review began. Township Engineer Tom Wilson, Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky, and Secretary Shanemarie Ferguson were excused, as no formal business requiring their attendance was scheduled. The session focused primarily on the township's ongoing revision of its Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO).

• SALDO Section 5 Design Standards reviewed: The commission conducted a preliminary review of Section 5 (Design Standards) of the SALDO, examining potential modifications. No formal action was taken during the two-hour working session.
• Act 167 Stormwater Management deferred: Chairman Fred Ford announced that discussion of Act 167 stormwater management requirements would be tabled until next month's meeting.
• Resident urged alignment with regional plan: Flo Mallonee encouraged commissioners to review the Valley's Regional Comprehensive Plan to ensure Halifax Township's development approach remains consistent with regional goals.
• Board of Supervisors Chairman confirmed SALDO alignment: Kenneth Bechtel, attending in his capacity as Board of Supervisors Chairman, noted that the proposed SALDO changes do correlate with the Comprehensive Plan's recommended provisions.
• Resident praised SALDO progress: Brad Bruner expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the SALDO revisions to date.
• Commissioner requested land dedication article: Mark Reed asked that a copy of a TownshipNews article on land dedication be provided to the commission; Fred Ford said he would follow up with the township secretary.
