Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission held its regular meeting on October 2, 2023, with Chair Jake Gruver calling the session to order at 7:00 p.m. All five members were present — Jake Gruver, Randy Paul, Chad Lebo, Dwight Hoffman, and Don Hentz — joined by Solicitor Mandy Slezak, Engineer Alex Greenly, and Tri-County Planning Commission representative Ben Warner. The brief, 41-minute meeting focused on advancing a solar ordinance and addressing a pending land development project.

• Solar Ordinance forwarded to Board of Supervisors (5-0): After continued discussion, the commission unanimously voted to recommend the Solar Ordinance to the Board of Supervisors for adoption.
• Halifax Commons time extension recommended (5-0): Following a PennDOT scoping meeting in late September, the commission unanimously recommended that U & Me Properties, owner of the Halifax Commons corner lot development, request a time extension from the Board of Supervisors while PennDOT issues are resolved.
• Geraldine Scheidler subdivision still under review: Discussion centered on nonconforming Lot 4 of the Scheidler subdivision plan, but no motion was made, indicating the review remains ongoing.
• Stormwater Management Ordinance and Terminology Updates on hold: Both items appeared on the agenda but the solicitor had no new comments on either; no action was taken.
• 2024 meeting schedule approved (5-0): The commission set its meeting dates for the coming year.
