Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission held its regular meeting on June 2, 2025, with all six members present: Chairman Jake Gruver, Randy Paul, Chad Lebo, Don Hentz, Dwight Hoffman, and Brad Bruner. The meeting was devoted almost entirely to a final review of a proposed Sign Ordinance, running from 7:00 to 8:16 p.m. No public comments were offered during either comment period.

• Sign Ordinance final draft review: The commission worked through the latest draft of a new Sign Ordinance covering electronic message center (EMC) setbacks from street rights-of-way and sight triangles, wall sign limits (no more than 36 inches from the wall and not extending above 7 feet from grade), on-premise and off-premise billboard consistency standards, 32 sq. ft. sign regulations, illuminated sign rules, and a fee schedule. Building Inspection Underwriters of PA was identified as the inspection agency.
• Definitions still outstanding: The commission noted that definitions still need to be incorporated into the draft, indicating further work is needed before a formal recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
• No formal vote on the ordinance: The sign ordinance review was a working session only — no motion was made to recommend the draft to the supervisors, suggesting at least one more round of revision is expected.
