Planning Commission

Halifax Township's Planning Commission met on April 1, 2019, convening at 7:00 p.m. and adjourning at 7:51 p.m. All five members were present — Flo Mallonee, Jake Gruver, Randy Paul, Chad Lebo, and Dwight Hoffman — along with Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky and Engineer Tom Wilson. The brief meeting addressed two land-use matters, both advancing unanimously.

• Flemish Down / Wech minor subdivision — waiver recommended (5-0): The commission unanimously recommended that the Board of Supervisors waive Halifax Township's review of a minor subdivision involving Flemish Down, LLC and Douglas W. and Katherine S. Wech, since the bulk of the affected land lies in neighboring Middle Paxton Township.
• Sweigard/Schlegel side yard addition — accepted for review (5-0): Plans submitted by Gladys Sweigard and Rodney Schlegel for a side yard lot addition were accepted for formal review.
• PennDOT signage discussion: Randy Paul raised a question about how PennDOT charges for signs along state roadways — specifically whether placement inside or outside the state right-of-way affects the fee. The topic prompted general discussion but no formal action.
