Special Meeting

Halifax Township's Board of Supervisors held a special meeting on May 20, 2020, conducted as a virtual conference during the COVID-19 pandemic. All five supervisors were present: Chairman Kenneth Bechtel, Randy Paul, Steve Schreffler, and Scott McBurney in person, with Brad Bruner joining virtually. The meeting was called primarily to open and award bids for the township's 2020 road improvement projects.

• Three road contracts awarded totaling approximately $155,151 — Randy Paul moved, seconded by Scott McBurney, to award all three contracts. Passed 4-0 (Brad Bruner had left the meeting before the vote).
• Paving contract awarded to New Enterprise for $78,870.85 for work on Dunkel School Road and Maple Street, beating Meckley's Limestone Products' bid of $85,031.00.
• Tar and chipping with fog seal awarded to Hammaker East Ltd. for $19,875.19 covering Roundtop Drive, Hilltop Road, and Cornfield Drive. Martin Paving bid $22,011.78.
• Tar and chipping without fog seal awarded to Hammaker East Ltd. for $56,404.93 covering eleven roads including Fellowship Drive, Lauren Lane, Galli Road, and others. Martin Paving bid $58,404.93.
• No action on COVID-19 yellow phase reopening — Dauphin County remained in the red phase at the time of the meeting.
• June Planning Commission meeting to be held virtually — approved 5-0 to advertise that the June 11 session would be conducted by virtual conference.
• Township Engineer position discussed with no action taken — the topic was placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting.
