Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission held a brief regular meeting on September 7, 2022, called to order at 7:00 p.m. and adjourning by 7:42 p.m. Chairman Jake Gruver, Vice-Chairman Randy Paul, Flo Mallonee, and Secretary Dwight Hoffman were present; member Chad Lebo was absent. The meeting centered on the Camp Hebron cabin redevelopment project, which received conditional approval.

• Camp Hebron cabin project conditionally approved: Representatives from Camp Hebron, including engineer Joshua Georgia of Landworks Civil Designs, LLC, presented plans to demolish six single cabins and build three duplex cabins in their place. The commission unanimously approved three related motions (all 4-0): accepting the July 15 plans for review, granting a SALDO Section 404 Preliminary Plan Waiver, and approving the Preliminary Final Plans subject to HRG engineer Alex Greenly's review letter, SALDO-compliant parking, ADA-accessible parking if buildings are ADA-accessible, and stormwater planning if impervious coverage exceeds 1,000 square feet.
• SALDO modernization continues: Ben Warner of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission reviewed comments on Articles 1–3 of the township's Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, focusing on updating the definition section as part of the ongoing effort to separate and modernize the ordinance.
• Sycamore Ridge stormwater concerns raised: Resident David Haas asked questions about the stormwater collection tank in the Sycamore Ridge plans and whether underground storage tanks may be located on the property.
• Transportation funding opportunity: Ben Warner encouraged the township to submit transportation projects to the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission's Transportation Department, which is rebuilding its Project Pipeline and could provide funding.
• 2023 meeting dates presented: Supervisor Kenneth Bechtel shared proposed Planning Commission meeting dates for 2023.
