Budget Workshop

Halifax Township's Board of Supervisors held a Budget Workshop on October 28, 2024, with all five supervisors present: Chairman Kenneth Bechtel, Brad Bruner, Scott McBurney, Steve Schreffler, and Randy Paul. The two-hour session focused on reviewing the proposed 2025 budget and addressing a funding crisis facing the local ambulance service. The board also held a brief executive session before the public meeting to discuss personnel matters.

• 2025 budget reviewed line by line: Supervisors worked through the entire draft 2025 budget, examining both revenue projections and expenditures across township departments. No final vote was taken at this workshop.
• Halifax Ambulance financial crisis — no resolution reached: Frank Klinger, representing Halifax Ambulance, presented the organization's financial difficulties and requested township support. Supervisors determined that current law does not permit the township to provide the assistance that had been discussed. The matter was tabled to the November regular meeting for further discussion.
• $50,000 DCED grant approved unanimously: The board approved a $50,000 grant contract from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, moved by Brad Bruner and seconded by Randy Paul (5-0).
• Township engineer options deferred to executive session: Supervisors discussed the township's engineering contract but took no action. A separate executive session was scheduled for November 4, 2024 to evaluate options.
