  • Fort Halifax student restoration project approved: Robert Brightbill of Dauphin County Vo-Tech School was granted permission to bring students for a week-long historical building restoration encampment at Fort Halifax in late June 2023, with work focusing on the wagon shed, granary, and milk house.
  • Nuisance enforcement — derby cars: The board voted to send a pre-nuisance letter to Larry Casner regarding eight totaled demolition derby cars stockpiled on his property.
  • Morgan Land Development time extension: A time extension agreement was approved for the Matthew A. and Chandra F. Morgan Land Development Plan.
  • Fire department parking lot study: Engineer Alex Greenly was authorized to investigate whether a dirt mound on Halifax Fire Department property could be leveled to expand the parking lot.
  • PennDOT winter services agreement: The board approved a supplemental agreement and resolution with PennDOT for winter traffic services.
  • Rocketry club granted Fort Halifax field access: The Southern Pennsylvania Area Association of Rocketry was approved to use Fort Halifax Park Field on three dates in 2023.
  • Small Festival 2023 in limbo: Michael Culp proposed September 8–10 for the annual Small Festival, but the board expressed concern about endorsing the event. No action was taken.

ENGINEER REPORT

Small Bridge Program Report and Christy Lepore Stormwater Easement

The Board questioned why Halifax Township received a Dauphin County Small Bridge Program report after previously voting not to participate; Engineer Alex Greenly agreed to investigate. For the Christy Lepore stormwater issue, an easement agreement was determined sufficient to meet separation requirements for Section 508-10.d.1.b.vii and would lift the denial.
